Stephen Devenish is a freelance consultant in global forestry and environmental issues.   He has   30 years of experience   gained from working for forest and other natural resources conservation and development projects in 35 countries. Mr Devenish has worked for all the primary international aid agencies including the European Commission, Asian Development Bank, Food and Agriculture Organisation, The Department for International Development UK, and KfW Bankengruppe Germany, as well as local institutions and the private sector.  

Mr Devenish has developed a number of particular interests. These include developing project concepts which explore the linkages between sustainable forest management and the alleviation of rural poverty, working with institutional structures to promote transparent and accountable forest governance in relation to FLEGT issues, and feeding lessons learned from the monitoring and evaluation of development projects into the identification and design of new projects.
